At about 8:06 p.m., Twin Lakes Police officers responded to a report of a suspicious package at the Twin Lakes Post Office on Lance Drive.
Upon arriving, officers saw a grocery bag inside a door. The bag was folded over.
Officers had the postmaster called to see if they were expecting any packages to be left. That’s when what the package really was came together.
The postmaster wasn’t expecting any package. But tomorrow is when local mail carriers will be collecting food for an annual food drive.
Hearing that, officers were able to determine the bag was just what it appeared to be, a bag of food probably left for the drive.
Officers had cleared the scene by about 8:30 p.m.
Officers must have been feeling a bit of deja vu. On April 27, officers dealt with a suspicious briefcase left at a downtown business. That briefcase later was found to be harmless. In September of 2014, officers had another suspicious package call at the Post Office. Ultimately that box was full of other boxes and was harmless. In September of 2013, a box left outside a village bank also was found to be harmless.
