The Westosha Central 8th grade boys basketball team participated in the Wisconsin State Invitational Championship Tournament in Stevens Point and Waupun on April 11 and 12.
This tournament, which was organized by The Great Northwest Basketball League, brought together 100 of the top community-based 8th grade boys basketball teams from all across the State of Wisconsin. State champions were crowned in four divisions: Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 and Division 4/5, based on the enrollment of the high school into which each team feeds.
The Westosha Central 8th grade boys team played in Division 2, finishing in 5th place. The results of Westosha Central’s six games were as follows:
- Pool Play: Westosha Central 66, Holmen 48; Westosha Central 66, Rice Lake 41; Westosha Central 59, Beaver Dam 52
- Round of 16: Westosha Central 49, Milton 31
- 1st – 8th Place Quarterfinals: Monona Grove 64, Westosha Central 55
- 5th Place Game: Westosha Central 57, Mount Horeb 48
- Waupun defeated Monona Grove to win the Division 2 Championship.
The Westosha Central team is coached by Marcus Zackery; Assistant Coaches: Mike Lois, Rudy Greco and Mike Hartke. Jaeden Zackery was named to the All-Tournament Team for Division 2
