UW-Extension in Kenosha, Racine and Walworth Counties are collaborating to provide a 24-hour tractor safety course for youth ages 12-16. This course is required by Wisconsin law for any youth between the ages of 12 and 16 that drive farm machinery on public roads.
The tractor safety course will be held at Burlington High School. Classes will be held Monday through Friday, June 15-June 19 from 8 a.m.-Noon. Testing will be held on Monday, June 22 from 8 a.m. to noon. Youth are required to attend all sessions.
This course includes hands-on driving exercises, various hands-on safety demonstrations including first aid, fire safety and pesticide safety. Students will also be required to do homework assignments. The course costs $50 per participant.
