Construction and demolition continues on Lakewood Elementary School.
The Lakewood name was taken down Wednesday morning to save it.
It’s the last days for the gym. The floor is in a few lucky hands by silent auction.
The roof will be removed, soon.
The footings were poured for the new art and band rooms.
The door where the new hallway will connect the new rooms to the rest of the school. District Administrator Joe Price did a time study and figures the time saved by this connection will add 15 days in to classroom time. Time that was previously lost in transit from room to room with the existing traffic pattern.
The new band room will be separated from other classrooms so the sound wouldn’t disturb those around them. This room will be used for other purposes.
The doorways will be squared and made ADA compliant. The asbestos tile will be removed and replaced.
There will also be new clocks and PA system.
I remember when i first started at Lakewood, i loved the school and all of the teachers and will be graduating from Wilmot Union High School in about 5 weeks, cant wait and i will remember both schools when i am on my way to college.
