Man found shot in Illinois Monday faces charges in Kenosha County

A man found shot at a bar in Lake Villa, Ill. Monday night is facing charges in Kenosha County.

A press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department identified the man found in Lake Villa as Justin K. Diedrich, 23, various Illinois media outlets said. The release went on to say Diedrich “was at the scene of the Kenosha County incident.” It did not specify where the Kenosha County incident took place.

At about 9:35 p.m. Monday, Kenosha County deputies and fire and rescue personnel responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 22000 block of 121st Street. “The incident involved a male victim who reported he had been shot by one of two assailants,” Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Dan Ruth said in a statement issued early Tuesday. The victim was a 52-year-old male resident. He received a single, non-life threatening, gunshot wound during the incident. The victim returned fire and may have hit one of the assailants.

Online Kenosha County Circuit Court records show charges have been filed and a warrant issued for Diedrich, of McHenry, Illinois, in connection with an incident occurring on March 30.

As of Friday, Diedrich was still in an Illinois hospital.
