At 5 a.m., I see snow falling outside my Paddock Lake window.
I am somewhat surprised. I watch weather forecasts pretty close to be able to bring you news of weather conditions you might want to know about. Snow wasn’t in our local National Weather Service forecast last night. In fact, it’s not in the local forecast for this morning.
Best guess is that the snow forecast for this morning in the Chicago area has reached a little farther north than predicted. So we will refer to the forecasts for that area to gauge the impact on us. Looks like this is lake effect snow event, that should end by mid morning, but could cause some slippery road conditions for the morning commute.
A 70 percent chance of snow/sleet is actually in the forecast for Sunday, with little to no accumulation expected.
UPDATE 5:30 a.m. — Not snowing now in Paddock Lake.
