Michelle Garven has been announced as the new district administrator of the Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated Grade School District.
Garven was at the school Friday being shown around by current district administrator George Steffen and school board President Tom Steiner.
Garven is currently the director of learning services in the Grafton School District. She has been an educator for 15 years, coming to teaching as a second career after working in insurance sales.
Graven received her bachelor’s degree in education from Mount Mary College and her master’s degree from Alverno College. She is completing her dissertation in the doctoral program at Cardinal Stritch University.
Her first day on the job at Trevor-Wilmot will be July 1.
Garven said she was interested in Trevor-Wilmot because of its student body from a diverse socio-economic background and the district’s size.
“It was a small community, which I was interested in,” Garven said.
When coming for an inteview with the board, she witnessed a discussion about education data, which impressed her as well.
“This is a group of people who understand what education is and want to get better,” Garven said.
The school board interviewed six people from a large pool of candidates identified by search firm Hazard, Young and Attea.
“…Michelle Garven was the best for for our district,” Steiner said. “All her past accomplishments have been in programs which our district is actively pursuing or hopes to pursue. She connected well with the staff and board, was very energetic and well prepared to meet the demands of our district. We are excited about having her lead our school into the future.”
Steffen is retiring. He came to the district in 2004 as district administrator.
Congratulations to your district on an awesome new district administrator. Both Mount Mary and Alverno are excellent universities and she will serve your district well.
