Randall School hosted the Dance the Drugs Away dance on Feb. 6 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Students from Randall, Wheatland, and Riverview schools were admitted to the dance at the reduced price of $2 because of a $250 grant Randall wrote.
This mini-grant, through the Greater Kenosha Community Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Awareness Committee, was written by McKinley Boyle and Lauren Christensen with guidance from Student Council Advisor Karen Reddin. Randall Student Council was in charge of organizing and putting on the dance.
The goal of the dance was to provide students with a drug-free event that also encouraged good, positive interactions with peers. Posters and banners were hung to stress the message of making a good, drug-free choice.
Local and Kenosha County police officers made appearances at the dance, also promoting and reinforcing the message this dance was sending. The DARE Program donated items for raffle prizes too.
