The driver of a semi-tractor trailer that rolled over on an on-ramp to I-94 today was taken to a local hospital for treatment. (We reported on the incident earlier.)
Here’s a statement on the crash from the Sheriff’s Department:
On 02-19-15, at approximately 1050 hours, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies along with the assistance of the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to a roll over semi-truck crash in the 7400 block of the northbound lanes of 120th Avenue (East Frontage to Interstate 94) in Kenosha County, WI. Fire and Rescue units from the City of Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie, and Bristol, responded as well. At the time of the crash, the semi-truck was traveling westbound on State Highway 50 attempting to turn north onto 120th Avenue to enter I-94 northbound. The semi-truck was unable to negotiate the turn onto northbound 120th Avenue and overturned. The semi-tractor driver was the sole occupant at the time of the crash and received minor injuries. The driver, later identified as a 42 year old man named Nicholaus M. Bellanti of South Milwaukee, WI, was cited for operating with a speed too fast for the conditions. He was transported by rescue to Aurora Hospital in Kenosha. The semi-truck had a 40 foot long dumpster-type container and was hauling approximately 20,000 pounds of scrap scaffolding for Cimco Recycling Company of Milwaukee, WI. No other vehicles were involved and the load of scrap metal had to be off loaded onto a separate trailer. The roadway on 120th Avenue north of State Highway 50 was closed for approximately six hours. There were no hazardous spills as a result of the crash. Neither alcohol nor weather conditions appear to be factors in this crash.
