At about 5:57 p.m., Town of Salem Fire/Rescue units are responding to a report of a possible structure fire in the area of Highway C and 286th Avenue in Trevor.
UPDATE 5:59 p.m. — Deputies are checking in area and feel the signs of fire may be coming from Illinois.
UPDATE 6 p.m. — Deputies confirm fire is in Illinois. Fire units returning to quarters and deputies clearing.
UPDATE 6:09 p.m.– The Northwest Herald is reporting that controlled burns were being conducted today at Chain ‘O Lakes State Park near Antioch.
I saw the smoke and ashes from this “fire” in Round Lake IL starting about 1 PM today. It looked almost like snow flurries.
Glad to know it was just a controlled burn.
