Even though one Silver Lake trustee candidate said he was withdrawing from the race via letter, the state Government Accountability Board has ruled that name stills needs to appear on the April ballot.
When village Clerk Terry Faber conducted the initial ballot position lottery last Friday, she left Dave Lathrop’s name out on the basis of the withdrawal letter.
But the GAB later confirmed that since Lathrop filed candidacy papers by the deadline his name had to appear on the ballot, Faber said in an email message to westofthei.com Tuesday.
Postions were redrawn Tuesday. The new order is:
- Eric Ericksen
- Dave Lathrop
- Doug Randolph
- Sabrina Moran
- Sandra Folgers
- Pat Dunn
- Eldon Johnston
- Charles Wiltberger

Seems to be allot of Galich / Albrecht supporters on the ballot again. The fact that the board never has any stability there will never be stability in the village. No one ever gets the opportunity it to fix issues from the past and there said we have “status quo” no matter who is in there. Too bad, it used to be a nice place to live… such a shame..
Had we dissolved, there would be a chance to make this a nice place to live. At any rate vote for three of these four, Pat Dunn, Eric Ericksen, Doug Randolph, and Charles Wiltberger. These men will move Silver Lake forward, out of the dark ages, and into the light. The other three, (4,5, &7) well, forget them. Like the snow on the road, they need to go…
@Good Ole boys: You claim their is no stability on the board, and will never be any stability in the village. You want to blame ” Galich/Albrecht supporters”. Um, please explain your contention, given the current board makeup of virtually NO “Galich/Albrecht supporters” EXCEPT for Pat Dunn. And he’s on an island all by himself. You don’t want to blame our current board for any of the mess we are in? You blame “status quo” on Galich/Albrecht? Remember the Ad Hoc Committee? 5 recommendations, one of the 5 was “maintain status quo”. Guess which one was chosen? Your analysis is not only flawed, you have been drinking way too much of the “Good ol’ boys kool-aid”!
@Good Ole boys: STABILITY is just around the corner ……..the choice of “fresh candidates”……blended in with the STABILITY that Pat Dunn continues to show on the board WILL provide us with some much needed RELIEF! Under the leadership of a new village president,….OF COURSE!
@Good Ole boys” your idea of STABILITY is: library fiasco, streets/sewers crumbling, police chief “resigning”, 2 fire chiefs “resigning”, board refusal to appoint/recognize new fire chief, new part time police chief hiring process(lack of one), board member arrested/resigning, ethics complaint/investigation by DA’s office , continued budget woes……you want to blame all of that “Galich/Albrecht” supporters? REALLY????????? Have you been to a board meeting in the last 2 years? The last 2 referendum votes showed the voters are PLENTY TIRED of the “status quo”. They not only wanted to overwhelmingly DISSOLVE, the also overwhelmingly wanted to opportunity to contract with Salem Fire/Rescue to provide PARAMEDIC LEVEL SERVICE to our community.
While we might currently be living the “status quo’ nightmare our village is bogged down in, the “Galich/ Albrecht” supporters are in the process of CHANGING THAT!
@Should have voted yes: While I agree that 4, 5, 7 “need to go”, I must chuckle at your “like snow on the road” analogy. With the unplowed snow we have piled up on our village streets….it might be August until it’s gone!!!! I think 4, 5 & 7 do “need to go”….take SLRS with them!
Go ahead blame Galich and Albrecht. They are not running the show. Sue Gerber is running the show. Now put the blame where it belongs. Dissolve
