One of the eight people who filed to run for Silver Lake village trustee in April has withdrawn from the race.

Dave Lathrop withdrew via signed letter, said village Clerk Terry Faber.

But with seven people still in the race, there will still need to be a primary on Feb. 17 to narrow the field to six for the April 7 ballot. The three candidates with the most votes in April will win the seats.

Names were drawn on Friday to determine ballot position for the primary:

  • Eldon Johnston.
  • Sandra Folgers.
  • Sabrina Moran.
  • Eric Ericksen.
  • Doug Randolph.
  • Charles Wiltberger.
  • Pat Dunn.

It is refreshing to see the number of candidates that have stepped forward to try and turn our village around. The 2 recent referendums CLEARLY showed that folks are fed up with the “status quo”. We already know where Dunn and Moran stand on the issues. We already know how the community feels about the lack of paramedic level service in our village, the lack of support our board has shown towards the fire department, and the financial MESS our village is in.
Not only has Pat Dunn been the “beacon of light” for hope to get us back on track, he’s pretty much been the “Lone Ranger” out there by himself. With a little more board support, along with a new village president, we CAN turn our village around!@

@Change in the Wind……some good points. I do applaud those villagers that “stepped up to the plate” to run for office. I would encourage voters to ask the questions: 1.What plan/ideas do you have to reverse the financial spiral we are currently facing? 2.Do you favor/not favor providing paramedic level service to our community? 3. Do you favor/not favor appointing a Fire Chief to the SLFD?
4.What plans do you have for the library building? 5. How do you feel the upcoming re-assessment in our village will impact homeowners/businesses?
6.How will you interact with fellow board members? 7.Are you satisfied/unsatisfied with our current board? 8. Do you favor/not favor having a private run ambulance company provide our EMS service? 9. Do you favor/not favor incorporating our current ambulance provider into the fire department, under village control? I’m sure each voter has many other questions and concerns for the candidates….I would encourage everyone to ask questions, attend meetings, and most importantly…get out and VOTE!!!

  3. Accountability? says:

According to the Government Accountability Board, Dave Lathrop’s name should have REMAINED on the ballot and been INCLUDED in the “ballot drawing” to determine placement on the ballot. Not only was this NOT done, now the GAB has determined that his name must be on the ballot. HOW is THAT going go be done? REDRAWING the names!!!!!!! Another INCREDIBLE SCREWUP at the Village Hall……..good ol boys(& gals) GONE WILD?
