Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser and Kenosha County Parks invite all youth age 16 and younger to participate in the 3rd Annual Youth Ice Fishing Derby at the KD Park on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 7 a.m. until noon. KD Park is located at 8530 352nd Ave. (Highway KD).
Registration is $2 at the event. Cash prizes will be awarded for first-fourth place in seven different categories of eligible fish, and there will be many other door prizes. Fish will be scored by length. New this year is a special prize for biggest fish overall.
The event is BYOB: Bring Your Own Bait!
The event will be held “ice permitting,” so please call 857-1869 on Friday, Jan. 16 to check to make sure the event has not been cancelled. The Pringle Nature Center will be demonstrating snowshoeing and have snowshoes for rent.
Snow permitting, cross country ski trails will be groomed on the hiking trails. Concessions will be available.

The weather is warm and I’m missing ice fishing season!! Decided to search from old articles and I’m glad I found this one. I’m really glad to hear the youth are getting involved with outdoor activities. It’s so much better than sitting on iphones or watching tv.
