Winners of Twin Lakes Area Chamber & Business Assoc. Trees on Parade contests announced

Here is a report from the Twin Lakes Area Chamber & Business on its recent Trees on Parade event.

Almost 600 people came to Trees on Parade for a creative Christmas Tree Contest, Santa and his elf, Kids Korner with face painting and kids crafts, Christmas Shopping and the first annual Gingerbread House Contest.

The tree winners are  Business Category: 1st Place Mad Dan’s, “Mad Grinch Steals Christmas”; 2nd Place Pam’s Appliance Express, “Cleaning up for Christmas”; and 3rd place: Tom’s Straw Hat, “Christmas Sundae is a Fun Day”. The winners in the Junior Category are  Messiah Christian Preschool, “Sharing God’s Love on Gingerbread Lane”; 2nd Place Cub Scout Pack 343,”Giving Tree for Domestic Violence Shelter Families”; 3rd Place St. Alphonsus School, “ United In Faith”. The winners for the General Category are: 1st Place Wilmot United Methodist Church & Calvary UCC Church,” Sharing the Warmth of Christmas”; 2nd Place, Just Live, “Peace & Hope”; and 3rd Place Twin Lakes Area Food Pantry, “Sugar and Spice…Giving is Nice”.

The Twin Lakes Area Chamber and Business Association held its first Scavenger Hunt  Dec. 1-6th. The winner of the 19” Color TV/DVD is JoAnne Coshun.

Three Wilmot High School Culinary Classes each created an impressive Gingerbread House for the competition. There were many compliments for all of the houses on the ballots. The Gingerbread winners are 1st place 8th Hour Class, 2nd Place 2nd Hour Class and 3rd Place 1st Hour Class.

The Chamber would like to thank all of its volunteers and sponsors: Allied Plastics Inc. The winning Coloring Contest Pictures  will be on display at BMO Harris Bank.

The activities finished with Village Board President Howard Skinner, Santa and his elf lighting the Village Christmas Tree downtown in the park. The Boy Scouts sold hot chocolate and cookies and some downtown businesses were open with treats for the public. It was a hometown kind of Christmas.
