Hundreds gathered at the old Dairyland Greyhound Park on Wednesday to rally in support of jobs and the casino, that is waiting for approval from Gov. Scott Walker. The event was hosted by State Representative Samantha Kerkman.
Jeff Hook, Senior Vice President, Hard Rock International
Kenosha Mayor Keith Bosman
Kenosha County Board Chairman Ed Kubicki
State Representative Thomas Weatherston, 62nd Assembly District
John Camosy, Camosy Construction
Dr. Bryan Albrecht, President, Gateway Technical College
Gary Besaw, Chairman, Menominee Kenosha Gaming Authority
The message was jobs and growth. There was slight reference to the opposition of the Potowatomi, who have a casino in Milwaukee.
Rally leaders would like people to show their support for the project by writing letters to local publications and calling the Governor. The 800 million-dollar project is awaiting a decision from Gov. Walker, who’s 6 month extension on his time to decide ends February 19, 2015.
All someone has to tell the Potowatomi in Milwaukee is this : Illinois is ready to have that built 5 miles south of the border. Either way, its going to have an effect on you. Difference is, the Potowatomi can’t tell Illinois what they can do! Might as well just let us have the tax and jobs!
