It’s that time of year again! Time to haul out those Christmas Decorations, climb that ladder, and dazzle the neighborhood with lights and decorations.

For the 18th year, prizes will be awarded to homes in Silver Lake that best illustrate the holiday.

Whether it is the religious or the fantasy side of Christmas, each home will be judged on its merits, originality, and presentation. All homeowners are eligible to compete, with the exception of the winners of the last three years. No pre-registration is necessary. Every street will be covered by the judges.

On Monday, Dec. 22, a trio of judges will tour the village, trying to find the “best of the best”! Viewing will begin at 7 p.m., so be sure to have your homes up to perfection with all of your lights and action figurines operating. Judges will not be residents of Silver Lake and will not have access to homeowners’ names so as to insure impartiality of decisions. Judging will be done strictly by streets address and quality of presentation.

Prizes awarded this season are: a $50.00 gift card. Second prize – a $40.00 gift certificate to  Taste of Italy and third prize is a $30.00 gift certificate for the Silver Lake Grill. All winners will be published in the press and will be contacted for congratulations and arrangements for delivery of respective gifts.

The tradition first started in 1996. A large number of houses now decorate and Silver Lake is a delight to visit to see the decorations. Let the tradition continue!
