UPDATE: Names of two who died in Saturday crash released

The names of two men who died in a crash on Highway 50 in Wheatland Saturday evening have been released by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of the car has been officially identified as a 52-year-old man named Paul E. Reese Jr. and the passenger of the car  as 29-year-old Michael E. Reese. The men were father and son and resided in Lake Geneva.

The car the Reeses were in was struck head-on by a pick-up truck driven by Brian J. Smith, 36, of Lindenhurst, Ill., a sheriff’s department spokesman said. Smith was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 50. The crash occurred in about the 34500 block of Highway 50.

Smith is expected to face both criminal charges and a traffic citation. westofthei.com does not list charges until a defendant has been charged in court. On Sunday, a sheriff’s department spokesman said Smith remains at Froedtert Hospital in stable condition with serious (but non-life threatening) injuries.
