The 2014 WKCYF Heavyweight Bulldogs completed their quest for a second consecutive championship on Sunday afternoon.  They  defeated the Zion Benton Jr. Zee Bees by a score of 37-12.

The game was played at Carmel Catholic HS in Mundelein.  The Bulldogs started fast with an interception return for a touchdown on the game’s opening possession.  Branden Spencer intercepted the pass and returned it 35 yards for the score and an early lead.  The Bulldogs defense stood tall and forced a 3 and out.  Kade Carlson returned the punt deep into Jr. Zee Bees territory.  Kevin Brenner scored a few plays later to increase the lead to 14-0.  The Bulldogs defense led by Cole Fraley, Nick Lemke, Cullen Ketterhagen, Adam Simmons, Trevor Nindl and Jimmy Weber continued to smother the Zee Bees.  The score at halftime was Bulldogs-29 Zee Bees-12.

The Bulldogs took the opening drive of the second half for a score and after Jorge Zatarain added the extra point kick led by a score of 37-12. The Bulldogs were able to control the clock with a great effort by the offensive line of Ben Jansen, Alex Leon, Max Iverson, Branden Spencer and Alex Butak.  It was a great season for the Bulldogs who went 10-1 overall and were conference champions as well as the TCYFL 4A state champion.

The remaining members of the Bulldogs are Dylan Fulton, Gunner Benser, Kyle Cole, Devon Denton, Alex Gerlach, Ethan Ivan, Austin Norton, JT Perlman, JT Rullman, Dominic Simonelli, Nathan Turney and Bill Vineyard.  The Bulldogs were coached by Don Strasser, Mike Gentile, Brian Jansen, Terry Simmons, Cory Ketterhagen and Butch Turney.
