Randall Town Board passes levy with 4.69 percent increase

randall-logo-webA 2015 tax levy of $910,946 was approved by the Randall Town Board Thursday.

That represents an about 4.69 percent increase over the 2014 levy of  $870,138.

The vote to approve the levy and the accompanying budget were unanimous with all members of the Town Board present.

Before the meeting formally started, resident Steve Gutschick asserted that the levy should be approved by town electors, not the Town Board. But Chairman Bob Stoll said the authority to pass the levy was given to the Town Board by a vote of electors years ago and that the town had received no notice that was improper.

“resident Steve Gutschick asserted that the levy should be approved by town electors, not the Town Board.” Statutes agree with Steve.
Stoll should deliver the information that gave the board the authority or follow statutes. Only the electors could have given away their authority to the board, if it was done at all.
The electors can retrieve their authority in the next annual electors’ meeting with a motion, a second to the motion and a simple majority. There does not have to be an agenda for this to be brought forth. I hope that Steve makes this happen and that he stacks the room with like minded patriots.

It’s time to budget for televised board meetings so people at home can see there board in action.
