The winner of the Dachshund Dash at Old Settlers Oktoberfest 2014 was a very familiar dog.

For the fourth year in a row, Ellie, who is trained by Michelle Schroeder took top dog honors.

In the dash, the dogs have to run a straight course, released by one human friend and coaxed to the finish line by another.

The first dachshund heat set a record, according to veteran observers. That is a record for longest race, as only one dog seemed to get the idea of the race and the others refused to run the course, Eventually the dog owners at the starting line were allowed on the course to coax their dogs to the finish line.

That may have been a surprise, but the result of the champions heat certainly was not, when Ellie again crossed the finish line first.
