The slow, no wake order for Lakes Mary and Elizabeth in Twin Lakes has been lifted, village clerk Kathleen Richardson announced this morning.
“As the lake levels are still higher than normal, we are advising boaters to still use caution while resuming normal boating activities,” Richardson’s announcement went on to say.
The slow, no wake order had been in effect since June 20. Slow no wake goes into effect when the lakes level is at 794.5 feet above sea level or higher as measured at the gauge at the Lake Elizabeth boat launch.
Village officials have said that a rainy June and construction of the new spillway contributed to the high water level this season. Not as much water as normal was able to spill over the structure, located just over the state line in Illinois, while it was under construction.
