Two teams from Wilmot Union High School competed at the 5th annual Finance and Investment Challenge Bowl state championship held at Manpower Group Building in Milwaukee on Wednesday, April 30. Each team qualified for state by finishing first and second at the Regional last December at the Racine Gateway campus. The competition is organized by Asset Builders of America with assistance from volunteers from several prominent financial institutions.

The team of Tara Steffen, Savannah Rivers, and Johny Weber won their first two matches and advanced to the elite eight before being defeated by the team from Rhinelander.

The championship team consisting of (name deleted at request of individual named), Bradley Jackson, Becca Krenz, and Kayla Bouma earned a first round bye after putting up the second highest score in the seeding round that began the single elimination jeopardy-style tournament. They then won three straight matches against Marshfield, Menominee Falls, and top seeded Neenah to take home the traveling trophy and $40 cash each

This is the second state championship for Wilmot. The Panthers won the very first FICB state competition in 2010.
