Silver Lakes extends contract with Silver Lake Rescue Squad through 2014

sl-rescue-squad-backThe Silver Lake Village Board has extended its contract for emergency medical services with Silver Lake Rescue Squad through the end of the year.

The current contract had expired March 31.

The board voted to extend the contract with the current terms at Wednesday’s Village Board meeting. The vote was 5-0 with, Trustee Sabrina Moran and President Sue Gerber abstaining due to conflicts of interest.

“I don’t think anyone here would contest that we need emergency medical service in our community,” Gerber said.

With that action, this most contentious of local issues appears to be settled again, at least until after a November referendum on whether the village should be allowed to contract with Salem for fire and rescue services.
