UPDATE: Woman dies in crash along Highway C

A 20-year-old Salem woman died in a crash today along Highway C in Bristol.

From a statement released by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department:

Today at 0837 hrs, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies responded with Bristol Fire and Rescue Personnel to the 21200 Wilmot Road (CTH C) for a report of a fatal accident. Salem Rescue also assisted at the accident scene. An eastbound vehicle driven by Haley Reitz (20 yoa, Town of Salem resident) lost control in a curved area of snow covered road. Her vehicle slid sideways and into oncoming westbound traffic. Reitz vehicle was then struck by a westbound vehicle driven by Joanna Derouchie (48 yoa, Town of Salem resident). Haley Reitz sustained fatal injuries as a result of the impact of the collision. An infant child passenger (4 months old) in the Reitz’ vehicle, with no apparent injuries, was initially transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Kenosha and then transferred by ground ambulance to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee as a precaution. Joanna Derouchie was transported by Flight for Life for serious (non-life threatening) injuries to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Rescue transported Derouchie to the Kenosha County Center helipad , where Flight for Life was standing by. Current weather and road conditions are believed to be contributing factors.
