UPDATE: Latest snow measurement

snowword-mf-jdurham-webAt about 7:30 a.m., we have received about 1 inch of snow at westofthei.com headquarters in Paddock Lake with plenty more falling from the sky as well.

The National Weather Service hourly forecast calls for the snow to continue until about 4-5 p.m. We could see another 2 to 4 inches by then. That’s a little less than was forecast on Friday for today. Winter storm warnings remain in effect in northeastern Illinois, including Lake County.

The severity of conditions must have lessened somewhat as the winter storm warning that was issued Friday for today has been replaced by a winter weather advisory in effect until 6 p.m. today.

The best news in the advisory is that wind will not be much of an issue with this event, remaining less than 10 mph. That’s good news for any who does have to go out.
