Winter weather advisory & wind chill advisory issued

snow-sxc-webA pair of advisories concerning weather in this area tonight and tomorrow have been issued by the National Weather Service.

A wind chill advisory went into effect at 6 p.m. Thursday and will continue to 10 a.m. Friday. Wind chill values could be as low as -30 during that period. Winds could be gusting as high as 40 mph.

A winter weather advisory also has been issued to kick in at 8 a.m. Friday until midnight Saturday. The key factor for this advisory is blowing snow caused by the high winds and existing snow cover. There also is a 90 percent chance of new snow Friday night that could result in 1 to 2 inches of new snow accumulation.

Saturday should be a pause from the potentially dangerous weather, but snow is back in the forecast for Saturday night, mainly after midnight Sunday (70 percent chance). There could be another 1 to 3 inches snow accumulation.

Sunday during the day, there’s still more snow in the forecast (70 percent) with another inch possible.

Then (no I’m not done) it’s going to get cold. Monday’s high temperature forecast is expected to be -2. Tuesday’s high -3. Wednesday 8 above.
