County to host youth ice fishing derby Jan. 11

Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser and Kenosha County Parks invite all youth age 16 and younger to participate in the 2nd Annual Youth Ice Fishing Derby at the KD Park on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 7 a.m. until Noon.

KD Park is located at 8530 352nd Ave. (Highway KD).

Registration is $2 at the event. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, third and fourth place in 7 different categories of eligible fish, and there will be many other door prizes. Fish will be scored by length.

The event is BYOB: Bring Your Own Bait!

The event will be held “ice permitting,” so please call 857-1869 on Friday, Jan. 10 to check to make sure the event has not been cancelled.

The Pringle Nature Center will be demonstrating snowshoeing and have snowshoes for rent. Snow permitting, cross country ski trails will be groomed on the hiking trails. Concessions will be offered by Wheatland Boy Scout Troop 381.
