Are you ready for the plunge — in temperatures that is.
Right now, the National Weather Service is recording a comfortable late December temperature of 32 at Kenosha Regional Airport.
It’s not going to stay like that. Temps are expected to bottom out at -5 for a low tonight, according to the current forecast. The NWS has issued a wind chill advisory from 9 a.m. today until noon Monday. Wind chill levels could reach 18 to 25 degrees below zero. We also may see some snow/freezing rain today before 1 p.m. and snow after that. Less than a half inch of accumulation is expected.
Monday and Tuesday will not be much better. The high Monday is forecast for 7 and the low for 0. The high Tuesday is forecast for 11 with a low of 1.
Temps should rise into the teens for highs after that, with a chance of some snow, but there’s no real warm-up in sight until Saturday, when the forecast is calling for a high of 28.
