The National Weather Service forecast was for less than .5 inch of accumulation.

But between noon and 4 p.m., I measured between .5 and 1 inch on various surfaces around westofthei.com headquarters.

Now the NWS folks have an official way to measure snow. I, on the other hand, just stick a yardstick into the snow at a variety of points and see if I can come up with some consensus. It varied a lot today. You can pick which method you trust.

And while the snow has ended as of about 4 p.m., the NWS has issued a special weather statement point out that falling temperatures — as low as the 20s tonight — may make untreated roads and sidewalks icy. “Motorists should be alert for icy patches while traveling this evening,” the statement says.
