Twin Lakes seeking proposals for new village attorney role

tl-logoTwin Lakes is seeking to hire a closer at hand village attorney for some of that position’s responsibilities.

The village solicited proposals from six law firms, with offices in Paddock Lake, Burlington, Waukesha and Elkhorn. The proposals were due to be returned from interested firms today.

The village’s current law firm is Michael Best & Friedrich, based in Madison. The village intends to continue to utilize that firm for labor relations and land use issues, but is looking for the new firm to handle more routine duties, explained Jennifer Pollitt, village administrator.

“”I suggested we find a local/regional attorney to handle the day-to-day general questions and duties,” Pollitt said in an email message. “The main responsibilities of the new attorney would be to answer standard questions regarding hearing notices, open records, open meetings, etc. They also will provide counsel to the Board of Review, minimizing travel costs for those days.”
