Central HS cross country teams sending competitors to state tournament

The Central High School cross country teams will be sending several individual competitors and the whole girls team to the state tournament after the sectional meet Saturday at UW-Parkside on Somers.

Central’s Melissa Capra topped all girls competitors with a 14:55.4, a new personal and Central record. Central’s Jacob Heibor topped all boys competitors with a 16:05.3.

Also qualifying for state as a team were the girl’s team of  Maddie Murphy, Joann Reiners, Maria Sabourin, Kenzie Bevery, Renee Culbertson, Becca Lamp and Capra as well as Shane McNealy as an individual for the boys meet. McNealy finished fifth Saturday with a time of 16:39.0.

The state meet will take place Nov. 2 at Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.

Top finishers for Wilmot Union High School at sectionals were: Chandler Burns, 29th, with a 17:49.6 for the boys and Kristen Clayton, 47th, with a 17:46.0 for the girls.
