Christopher Nelson playing football for UW-Whitewater

Christopher Nelson, a sophomore finance major from Twin Lakes, has made the 2013 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team.

With an experienced defensive line and talented offensive line, the UW-Whitewater Warhawks will look to continue their current winning streak.

“I’ve been very pleased with the season so far,” said Lance Leipold, head football coach. “The conference will still be challenging, but with our dedicated work ethic and great attitude, nothing is impossible.”

The Warhawks defeated their first two opponents – Washington University (St. Louis) and Buffalo State College by a combined score of 72-21.

“We’re all very excited about the upcoming games and competing for the championship,” said Leipold. “We’re very fortunate for past success in recent years, and we’re aiming to repeat that success.”

When the players are not on the field, they are giving back to the community. The UW-Whitewater football team hosts fitness programs for elementary school students, as well as participating in Reading with the Warhawks, a program where players to read to children in the community.
