Applications for CDBG regional housing needs grants to be accepted

The Kenosha County Executive’s office has made the following announcement regarding applications for CDBG regional housing needs grants:

The Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) Division of Housing announces that it is awarding $15 million in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) for regional housing needs. These grants provide resources across Wisconsin to address affordable housing and community development. “These grants will help families across Wisconsin purchase affordable housing and make needed home improvements” said DOA Secretary Mike Huebsch. The grants help provide: • Homebuyer assistance, such as down-payment and eligible closing costs • Funding to make housing accessibility improvements, including wheelchair ramps and wider doorways • 0% deferred payment loans for housing improvements to low-and-moderate-income homes • Owners of low-and-moderate-income rental housing can receive 0% deferred or installment loans for housing improvements Funding for these competitive biannual awards is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Grants were awarded based upon the age of housing in the area, the low-to- moderate income population, unemployment rate, and affordability (or how much of a person’s income has to be paid toward housing costs). The Southern Housing Region was awarded $2,422,000 and is represented by the counties of Columbia, Dodge, Jefferson, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Racine, Rock, Sauk, Walworth and Washington. MSA Professional Services, Inc. (MSA) was awarded the administration of the Southern Housing Region. Applications will be available the week of Spet. 30 for distribution but the applications will not be accepted until a specified “Application Day” is held. Residents can submit a completed application for Kenosha County On Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kenosha County Center, Conference Room A, 19600 75th St., Bristol. Only completed applications will be accepted. A completed application will include, but is not limited to, income information, asset & liability information and information regarding the condition of the home. Residents interested in applying should obtain an application prior to the application day in their county in order to gather all the necessary information before hand. Additional information and copies of the application will be available at each municipality within the county, at the County Courthouse or by contacting MSA at 1-800-552-6330 and referencing the Southern Housing Region.

    when applying for a CDBG for regional housing needs do they consider a minors monthly social security as household income even if its not taxable. and what if the parents use the social security to pay for childs home schooling orginization.
