A land division Kenosha County says its needs to complete an extension of the Icehouse Recreational Trail was approved by the Silver lake Village Board Wednesday night.

The county is seeking to separate and then purchase a wedge shaped part of the Pope’s Automotive property in the Schenning Business Park to complete an extension of the trail to Dells Road in the village via Lotus Drive in the business park. The rest of the trail┬áruns through Silver Lake County Park.

Village President Sue Gerber said the property owners welcome the division and the property purchase by the county. The Village Board approved the division unanimously.

While discussing the issue with county officials, Gerber said she also asked that trash receptacles be placed along the extension.

All costs of the property acquisition and the trail construction are being paid by the county government, Gerber said.
