The Meyer Family is hoping to get back about $7,000 in tools stolen from a shop on their farm property in Salem Thursday evening.

Jimmy Meyer said he left the shop around 7:30 p.m. Upon returning from picking corn in his fields at about 10 p.m., he discovered the tools missing.

A wide variety of tools were gone, from common hand tools, to power tools, to specialized tools for working on large equipment. The tools were literally a lifetime’s accumulation, Meyer said.

“I finally had all of the tools I needed, I had them,” Meyer said. “Now I’ve got to start all over again.”

The timing was bad as well.

“I need to start working on equipment for the fall, you know all of that September work,” Meyer said. “This is my livelihood. It’s how I feed my family.”

Meyer said he is offering a $2,000 reward for the return of the tools. Contact the Meyer family by calling 847-561-2890 or 843-2399.
