Paddock Lake may be a little more festive this holiday season if plans being considered by the village government progress.

At last week’s Committee of the Whole meeting, village administrator Tim Popanda outlined preliminary plans for a Christmas season event that would expand beyond the Santa visit for children at Village Hall that has taken place for about 20 years.

Popanda described an event that would include a lighted parade through the village from McAlonan Park to Village Hall (same route as Fourth of July bike parade), along with a tree lighting ceremony and pictures with Santa. Refreshments would be served.

The new event was in part in reaction to the village’s recent survey, which identified a sentiment that most activities organized for the village were just for children.

The current budget for the event is $1,595.

The event has not been approved yet by the Village Board.

Fantastic! Love Christmas! Love being able to say Christmas and not “holiday” love small towns! Way to go…money well spent…the community will grow closer as a result 🙂
