NASCAR star Tony Stewart will not be able to race at Wilmot Raceway Aug. 16 due to a broken leg he sustained in a sprint car crash this week.

Stewart may still make a personal appearance at the track, a track official said.

We are expecting some more details later. We will post what we find out.

UPDATE 9:48 p.m. — A press release posted at the Wilmot Raceway Facebook page confirms that Stewart will not race at Wilmot and has the following to say about the personal appearance:

A Meet and Greet with Tony Stewart scheduled at the Kenosha County Fair was also tentatively scheduled, though it’s extremely doubtful if Stewart will be able to attend. He previously competed with IRA in Plymouth, WI earlier this season and enjoyed himself enough to the point Wilmot was added. He has been an absolute professional in regards to his dirt track schedule and he will make every attempt to make good on his visit. However respectfully Tony’s health is the first priority to us and his family, friends and fans want him to get well as soon as possible.”

We will share any other details we learn.
