Wisconsin Lightning 18u Black loses in extra innings; next game is this morning

lightning-softball-logoThe Wisconsin Lightning 18u Black lost to Riptide of Southern California in a nine inning international tiebreaker game by a score of 4-2 at Moyer field in Salem, VA. The loss sends the Lightning into the losers bracket against Team Oak Stars (IL) Friday morning at 9am est.

Sarah Fonk (Westosha Central) took the hard luck loss giving up 6 singles and a double in 9 innings. At the end of 7 the score was knotted at 1. The game proceeded into the international tiebreaker with neither team scoring in the eighth but the Riptide erupted for 3 runs in top of 9th and Lightning could only muster 1 in bottom of the frame. Fonk ended with 7 strikeouts and 2 hit batters. Leading the Lightning offense was Sara Terrian (Waterford) with 3 hits including a double, with an RBI. Also, Britt Blazich (Westosha Central) had 2 hits, a stolen base and run scored, Fonk had an RBI double. Larkin Langston (Westosha Central) and Kelsey Saycerman (Wilmot) also had hits.
