A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the new skate park in Twin Lakes Sunday afternoon.

And then a  group of anxiously waiting skateboarders finally got to try out the skateboard park. Everyone enjoyed the hot dogs, brats, chips, cake and cool beverages in the shade.

The park is located on a former tennis court at Legion Park. The new equipment marks the culmination of fundraising spearheaded by the Valentine family of Twin Lakes. This park replaces an earlier skate park in the village.

The cost of the park was about $8,000 — half from fundraising and half from park department funds.

Skateboarders have run of the whole space for now. There are future plans for the other half of the space.
