At about 1:44 p.m., Town of Salem Fire/Rescue units are responding to 67th Street and 243rd Avenue in Paddock Lake for stand-by at request of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.
A resident may have found old explosives while cleaning.
UPDATE 2:55 p.m. — No dynamite. From Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Bill Beth: “The Sheriff’s Bomb Squad responded this afternoon … in Paddock Lake for what was thought to be 4 sticks of dynamite found while the homeowner was cleaning out an out building. The Bomb Squad found that the items were road flares. No dynamite. The flares were removed at the homeowners request by the responding deputy.”
