Foster Parents Needed in Kenosha County

Throughout the state, there are many children in need of homes on a short or long-term basis. For that reason, in Kenosha County, the Community Impact Programs, Inc is seeking foster care parents.

“We always need families,” said Foster Care Coordinator, Ann Dreschler, to the Twin Lakes Village Board. “We are in crisis mode right now with 250 children who need to be placed in a safe environment and only 88 foster homes available.”

Foster Care involves caring for children from birth to 18 years, from diverse backgrounds who have been removed from their homes due to a crisis.  To be eligible, foster parents must be at least 21-years old and be able to provide emotional and physical support to a child.

“There are various types of foster care,” said Dreschler. “In addition to long term care, parents can serve as a respite home to fill in when current foster parents need a break to help them for a week or two. We can also use parents to fill in on an emergency basis such as a phone call at 2 a.m. to care for a child or siblings for 24 hours or up to 30 days. We have a huge need for teens, early school age and sibling sets.”

Individuals who are interested in learning about foster care are invited to call Community Impact Programs for more information. 262-656-8420 ext 123. Or contact via email fostercare@psgcip.com
