Sarah Verzal, an eighth grade student at Wheatland Center School, recently won a Gold Medal in the Scholastic national writing contest.
Sarah and her teacher, Rachel Hartley, will be honored this Friday night at 5 p.m. during an awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York.
Sarah was the only middle school recepient of the award from Wisconsin. Her award wining poem “Variable” can be read here.
