Kreft sworn in as Twin Lakes PD lieutenant

Police Officer Jeffrey C. Kreft was sworn in as the newest lieutenant with the Twin Lakes Police Department at Monday’s Village Board Committee of the Whole meeting.

Kreft was sworn-in by Jennifer Pollitt, village administrator, as family members and friends, members of the Police Commission and current members of the Twin Lakes police officers were in attendance. Kreft’s wife, Kelly, pinned on his new badge as part of the ceremony.

Lt. Kreft was the top candidate out of five department members that participated in the grueling and challenging testing process by an outside Assessment Firm, said Chief Dale Racer. The Twin Lakes Police Commission unanimously approved the appointment of Kreft to be part of the management / leadership team for the police department.

Kreft started his career with the Twin Lakes Police Department in September 2007 after five years full-time with the Genoa City Police Department and part-time with the City of Delevan Police Department. Kreft was assigned to 3rd shift and will continue on night shift as the shift commander. Kreft is one of the police department’s firearms instructors and is in charge of the Field Training program for new hired police officers. Kreft is certified in the use of the police department’s bicycles; has been trained as a Drug Recognition Expert; is a certified Benelli Shotgun armorer; is a member of the Department’s Honor Guard Unit and attended the State of Wisconsin’s Evidence Technician School. Kreft has an Associate Degree from Gateway Technical College and had graduated from the First-Line Supervisory Training in 2009 and most recently graduated from the prestigious Wisconsin Department of Justice and the International Police Chief Association’s Leadership of Police Organization program.

The Kreft promotion means the department now has two lieutenants. The department is allowed three lieutenants, but for internal and budgetery reasons the third position will bot be filled, Racer said.
