School back in session Monday at Wheatland Center

wheatland-school-busWheatland Center School plans to hold a normal school day Monday, a district official said Sunday.

The school had an impromptu day off Friday after the state announced it would be closing Highway 50 in Wheatland due to encroaching flood waters from Highway 50. Most of the school’s bus routes use Highway 50 and numerous families were dealing with flood waters at their homes, district administrator Jason Tadlock said Friday.

The river is now receding and Highway 50 re-opened this morning. Consequently, school at Wheatland Center will be open Monday, Tadlock said today.

“We’ll do the best we can to reach students in areas that have been flooded,” Tadlock said in an email message to westofthei.com. “Some parents may need to bring their students.”
