The Highway 50 closure put into effect Friday because of raising water on the Fox River has been lifted Sunday morning.

At about 8 a.m. barricades were being taken down along the route by county Highway Department workers.

Water at the key point of the highway, near the bridge over the river, was at about the same level as it was early Friday morning, a little over the shoulders, but the traffic lanes clear.

The Fox is still receding. The most recent observation at the New Munster gauge at 6:30 a.m. was 14.23 feet.

County Highway Department workers remove barricades and signs on Highway 50 at Brass Ball Corners in Paddock Lake.
