Wheatland Center School cancels classes for Friday

wheatland-school-busWheatland Center School has cancelled classes for Friday, April 19, due to the impending road closures — including Highway 50 — and flooding in the area.

The school announced the closure through automatic telephone calls and email.

The 7th and 8th grade art field trip that was scheduled for Friday also was cancelled.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding with this matter,” the message said.

UPDATE 9:58 p.m. — We just received this additional statement from district administrator Jason Tadlock: “We were concerned with the number of students that we would have isolated, as well as the logistics of re-routing almost every bus route that we have, as most of them use hwy 50. With that in mind and the fact that we have numerous families dealing with flooding issues in their homes we decided it was best to call school off.”
