Wheatland will be reviewing three garbage/recycling proposals

Three garbage/recycling proposals were received today by the Wheatland Town Board, and the board will be reviewing them over the next week.  The three vendors were Waste Management, Viola, and John’s.  The board decided to table their discussion until their meeting on April 22nd at 6 :15 pm.

A fourth vendor, ASDA Enterprises, from Burlington, represented by Andrew Naber, was in attendance at tonight’s board meeting.  Even though he did not submit a formal proposal, he addressed the board for a possible future contract possibility.

Naber said that his company currently does work for the town of Dover, Burlington, Yorkville, Spring Prairie, and Lyons.  Bill Glembocki, town chairman, said that they “were in the ball park.”

Dan from John’s was in attendance at tonight’s meeting.  He said that they submitted their proposal in response to what Wheatland requested.  He said that they also operate a few drop off’s similar to what the rep from ASDA Enterprises discussed.  They mix all of their recycling together and sort it at their new processing facility located on Highway 45.  The residents would need to flatten their cardboard, which is somewhat being done now.

Glembocki told Naber that he might ask him for his unbiased opinion, since he’s out of the running completely.
