Northbound lanes on I-94 flooded

At 10:57 a.m., the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department has issued the following statement regarding flooding on I-94:

Two Right hand lanes on I-94 NB North of HWY C and South of STH 50 are flooded. This has reduced traffic to One lane NB in this area. Suggested alternate routes: If trying to get to Hwy 50 the East Frontage Rd. can be used, BUT the on ramp for I-94 NB at Hwy 50 is closed. Alternate routes for through traffic would be STH 31, USH 45 or east to CTH H north to STH 158 and use the on ramp for NB I-94. We expect this delay to continue for the next 3 hours until equipment arrives to rectify whatever road construction issue is causing the flooding.”

UPDATE 11:49 a.m. — From Sgt. Bill Beth, Sheriff’s Department spokesman:

I have just been informed that the water is receding on I-94. All lanes should be open within ½ hour. The construction company will wait to do corrective repairs until the overnight hours tonight. There will be one lane closure during nighttime hours. The cause of the flooding was water pooling on the highway in the lane crossover area. Apparently, the design of the cross over did not allow the water to drain from a portion of the roadway. …”
