At 8:53 p.m., early incomplete results in the Silver Lake village president race show challenger Sue Gerber leading incumbent Jeff Albrecht: Gerber 270-Albrecht 241.
UPDATE 9:02 p.m. — Race tightens with latest numbers: Gerber 307-Albrecht 290.
UPDATE 9:37 p.m. — Final unofficial results same as last entry per village Clerk Terry Faber.
Hope that the citizens don’t put up with the new President deciding she will void the decision of using Salem Rescue…..and also I’d be making sure that the people that voted actually live in the village!!! I know Gerber’s son doesn’t reside there…he actually lives in Twin Lakes!!!
Another village President that thinks things where better 30 years ago.
Paddock Lake is paying Salem about $188,000 this year for fire and rescue service, at lease half of that it’s fair to say pays for EMS. Brighton is paying Salem $50,000 this year for fire and rescue service again it’s fair to say about half of that pays for EMS. On top of that, the minimum Salem charge is $525.00 plus mileage per EMS call. Isn’t it reasonable to think Salem will not agree to provide EMS service to Silver Lake at no charge which is the agreement Silver Lake passed?
From what I have seen the village was much better thirty years ago. Business has all but disappeared and the village fights current business at every turn.
This person obviously has no clue what Silver Lake was like 30to years ago. Silver Lake was a beautiful village. It has been turned into an over taxed bedroom community with nothing to show for. Silver Lake should just disband and let Salem take over altogether. Unfortunately, Silver Lake will never be as nice as it was 30 years ago!
Paddock Lake and Brighton have an agreement with Salem to provide fire and EMS. This year Paddock Lake is paying Salem $187,538.00 and Brighton is paying $50,000.00 for that service. It’s reasonable to assume that half that cost is to cover Salem’s overhead and equipment cost for providing just the rescue and EMS.
On top of that, Salem charges a minimum of $600.00 plus mileage at $12.00 per mile for non resident EMS calls. As everyone knows Silver Lake has agreed to a DRAFT agreement however; the Salem Town Board has not, so don’t be surprised if they don’t agree to get bamboozled into providing rescue and EMS for free or without covering their overhead and equipment cost as this DRAFT agreement specifies.
What does my comment is awaiting moderation mean? Why isn’t it posted?
Oh happy day!!!!!!! Congratulations Sue Gerber. I am so happy to see the current president go, too bad the rest of the incumbents couldn’t have gone with him !!!! Looking forward to better things in S.L. and I hope for the sake of all parties involved, Salem will do the right thing and get rid of this garbage “rescue” proposal. What a mess the current administration has created.
Unbelieveable, if you know so much about who should or should not vote in the election you shold take it to the district attorney. Or is this another pile of BS from those that lost?
Sue your just wasting your time if you our your son think your going to change all the good that the last president has done! I am positive that you are not welcome on our board!
I guess you didn’t see the results, but Sue received the most votes out of all of them! So she may not be welcomed by some on the board, but the people she now gets to represent love her (which is most of them). You lost, so get it over it.
……Sue only one by 17 votes. Thats not a lot or even called a land slide. 17votes is neck and neck to me. We still have Dunn, Snow, Decker and Cindy representing. So I am happy.
To Jackie Moore: You are placing your faith in Decker,Dunn, Snow and Cindy. This is just another smoke & mirror game left over from the Albrech period. Now that was a joke power and control and don’t forget the secrets.
