At 12:37 p.m., Salem Fire/Rescue units and a sheriff’s deputy are responding to a report of a brush fire near the intersection of Highway 83 and Highway SA in Salem.
Callers reporting the fire tell dispatch the fire is on the east side of Highway 83, north of the intersection.
UPDATE 12:40 p.m. — A firefighter on the scene reports fire is about 50 feet long and in ditch line, giving off white smoke.
UPDATE 1:02 p.m. — Some fire units returning to quarters.
